When you give today, you supply the paint, 3D printing filament, and welcoming space that turn curiosity into lifelong skill and connection. Whether you are sponsoring a subsidized membership for a veteran or funding gaming materials for our public events, your generosity ensures that cost is never a barrier to finding community.
Every dollar directly supports our studios, powers our free STEAM workshops, and builds a vibrant third space where imagination brings people together across Fairfield and New Haven Counties.

Be the spark in your community
Become a mentor and help us unlock the creative potential of our community. We are looking for passionate miniature painters, 3D designers, artists, and crafters to join our team as volunteers, providing the guidance that turns a student's curiosity into confidence and skill. Whether you are teaching elementary and older youth how to paint their first miniature, guiding a beginner through 3D modeling, or assisting during a workshop session, your time and talent serve as the essential bridge that connects our participants to their own success. Join us, and help build a more expressive, connected Southwestern Connecticut, one project, print, and roll of the dice at a time.

FAQ
How are my donations used?
We are committed to total transparency. Every dollar you donate directly strengthens our creative space and keeps our programs accessible. 25% of your gift goes directly toward purchasing professional-grade paint, 3D printing equipment, and open crafting supplies, while also funding free public STEAM workshops. The remaining 75% powers our subsidized membership programs for local students and military veterans and supports community outreach across Southwestern Connecticut, ensuring your support has the maximum possible impact on our creators.
Are my donations and membership dues tax-deductible?
Yes! Lore Builder Community Studios is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Both one-time/recurring donations and 100% of your studio membership dues are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. You will receive a tax receipt for your records via email upon contribution.
Are there benefits to becoming a member?
Yes! Beyond the pride of knowing you are providing sustainable funding for local STEAM workshops and tabletop gaming programs, members enjoy exclusive perks inside our space. Depending on your tier, benefits include unlimited open studio access to paint and play without needing a day pass, 2.5% to 10% discounts on retail purchases and studio services, guest pass privileges to bring a friend, and early-bird event registrations.
What kind of time commitment is required to volunteer?
We offer flexible opportunities designed to fit your schedule. While some mentors lead a recurring weekly or monthly workshop, such as miniature painting sessions, 3D design classes, or game hosting, we also have one-time volunteer roles for weekend events, supply prep, and public gaming days. Whether you can lend two hours a month or two hours a week, your time and talent directly empower creators and gamers across Southwestern Connecticut.
Do I need experience in art, 3D printing, or gaming to join or attend a workshop?
Not at all! Our programs and workshops are designed for all skill levels, from total beginners picking up a paintbrush for the first time to experienced hobbyists. Our instructors and mentors provide step-by-step guidance so you can learn at your own pace in a welcoming, judgment-free environment.
Can I drop in to paint or play without a monthly membership?
Absolutely! Non-members can purchase a Day Pass for open studio access to paint miniatures, work on terrain, or run tabletop games. However, if you plan to visit regularly, becoming a member pays for itself quickly while directly supporting our community STEAM programs.
Can I host a private event, game night, or corporate workshop at the studio?
Yes! We host private tabletop gaming sessions, miniature painting parties, and team-building STEAM workshops. Facility rental fees and event bookings directly help fund our subsidized youth and veteran programs. Contact us at info@lorebuilder.org to discuss availability and packages.
